Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (2022)

Ever wanted to know who the best character in Paladins is? Well, today we are going to be doing a Paladins Tier List that will explain the different tiers of characters in Paladins (from S Tier to F Tier) and also tell you who the best healer, tank, etc. are. Hopefully, by the end of this Paladins tier list, you will have a decent understanding of the strongest and weakest characters in Paladins.

Keep in mind, all tier lists are at least somewhat subjective. An S-tier character might lose to an F-tier character from time to time, especially if someone isn’t good at said character. However, what this tier list aims to do is rank the characters on average, meaning that they aren’t based on one person’s performance, rather the average of most people.

Every character is viable in the hands of a good player!

What is the Best Character in Paladins?

Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (1)

The best character in Paladins right now is Androxus. Androxus is an extremely powerful flanker that can get key kills for his team and carry his team to victory. If you’re looking to climb the ranks and win games by yourself, Androxus is the best character for you.

If you want to excel at the game competitively and rise up the ranks, then it’s important to know who you should be playing to be able to keep winning games. Many people often ask who is the single most overpowered character to play to guarantee the win, but the reality is that the best character in the game depends on the role that you play for your team. What makes a champion the best for you mainly boils down to two things, your playstyle and the current meta of the game.

If you’re someone who likes to rush into the back lines and help out your team by getting those pivotal kills, then you’ll most probably gravitate towards playing characters that are flankers; such as, Androxus, Buck, Evie, or Skye. On the other hand, if you’re someone who likes to stay on the backlines and help out your team by healing your allies and slowing down the enemy’s movements, then you would be more suited for the support role. This means that you would use characters like Grohk, Grover, Pip, or Ying. Other roles include being the tank or being the damage dealer of the team. These roles all have their unique playstyle.

Now that you’ve identified your role in the team, it’s now important to identify the second part in choosing the best character to play, the meta. The meta is whatever the game is biased towards you playing. Often, competitive games like Paladins continuously find ways to balance the game for its player through regular updates. These updates can either buff or nerf certain characters or roles depending on how the developers want the game to move forward. Identifying the current meta of the game is important in identifying who the best character is for you because you want to be playing a character who is currently in an advantageous position compared to other characters.

Who is the Best Tank in Paladins?

Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (2)

Currently, the best tank character in Paladins is Inara.

When you’re looking for a tank character for your team, you want someone that’s able to stay alive most of the time and soak up damage that otherwise would be hitting your teammates while also providing for some crowd control against enemies. Although there is quite a steep learning curve with using her, once you have mastered using Inara you easily become the best tank in any game. Inara has an exceptional amount of sustainability because of her Earthen Guard. This makes her capable of hardpoint fights. In addition to this, she can also deal a considerable amount of damage at extremely close range with her Warder’s Field. This ability also slows enemies which can be used for scaring enemies away from the capture point or preventing enemy flankers from getting away. Her ultimate ability, Seismic Crash is also incredibly useful as it stuns enemies and passes through most shields.

Who is the Best Healer in Paladins?

The best healer in Paladins right now is Ying.

Healers are often the unsung heroes of the game, often on the backlines supporting the whole team. Although the role of the healer isn’t as flashy, there’s no denying that healers play one of the most pivotal roles in Paladins. The best healer is able to effectively keep their teammates healthy while also providing some crowd control. Like Inara, you’re going to need to have quite a lot of experience in Paladins to be able to be useful as Ying because Ying is one of the more difficult characters to play in Paladins. Ying is able to heal her allies effectively using her illusions. Her skill Illusory Mirror allows her to fire beams of energy and also to Shatter her illusions which makes them seek enemies and explode to deal damage around them. She can also switch places with her illusions using her Dimensional Link. Ying’s Illusory rift, her ultimate ability, allows her to apply a strong healing buff to all her allies and also allows her movement skill to teleport to an ally’s current position. It’s this kit that makes Ying so hard to use but at the same time the best healer in Paladins.

Character Tier List

In making a Paladin’s character tier list it’s important to note that we will be considering characters based on the role that they are intended for in the team and the current meta in terms of strategy and ranked gameplay. The ranking will be based on how effectively a character can carry out his/her role.

Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (4)
  • Koga
  • Atlas
  • Makoa
  • Inara
  • Cassie
  • Bomb King

These characters are those that are the most useful in competitive play right now because of their kit. Each of these characters has a variety of different abilities and roles to fill in ranked mode. In addition, their ultimates are abilities that can make or break a game. What is common with all of them is that they are all close-ranged fighters with many skill shots for opponents to dodge. This makes them difficult to fight against while also rewarding for those who are able to master their combos. All in all, these characters have a high impact on the game when played well and are a necessity for any team to have. Each of these characters has the ability to change the tides of the game because of their abilities.

  • He is an incredibly mobile flanker with the ability to swap stances which unlocks other abilities. This makes good at avoiding damage while dealing damage as well.

  • He is one of the most powerful front-liners. He is also able to deal massive damage using his primary attack.

  • Makoa is a very consistent character due to his ability to isolate enemies while defending allies. He can also deal lots of damage close range. He is a good match for a squishier character because of his kit.

  • She is a very strong zoner with her powerful ultimate stunning enemies. Her ultimate is able to bypass shields and deal damage. She is only S-Tier in the right hands and will need to be backed up by her teammates.

  • Cassie has great DPS and is a great info gatherer. An all-around great character for anything. Pick Cassie if your playstyle leans towards rushing in rather than hanging back.

Bomb King

  • He’s a great zoner and has good utility for clearing a point. If you want to control the flow of the game and herd your opponent around, then Bomb King is for you.

Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (5)
  • Imani
  • Lian
  • Viktor
  • Ying
  • Seris
  • Androxus
  • Mal’Damba
  • Ash
  • Fernando
  • Io
  • Terminus
  • Khan
  • VII

Although A-Tier characters are not as good as S-Tier, they still deserve to be respected for their abilities. Don’t get me wrong, these characters have great abilities, but compared to the S-Tier characters they lack the firepower for fast-paced battles. These characters are best at defense and support roles such as healing or buffing allies. That being said, in the hands of a skilled player, A-Tier characters can definitely beat S-Tier characters.

  • One of the more complex damage dealers in the game. She can dominate from any distance and can contribute to crowd control as well. She can also deal high damage to her opponents by switching stances in the middle of a fight.

  • Lian’s best skills are for dealing damage. She can deal mid-range damage using her semi-automatic Heirloom Rifle to attack opponents.

  • Viktor is a very easy-to-use character that can deal high damage to opponents.

  • Ying is another character that is great but only in the right hands. She is arguably the best healer in the game if used properly.

  • Seris is a support that has some healing that is helpful for allies. She has great survivability, but her damage is lackluster.

  • Androxus has the potential of being an outstanding flanker. He is very versatile and can deal tons of damage to the enemy team. Even if you’re not sure what the meta currently is, Androxus is a safe pick.

  • He is an incredibly consistent healer while providing crowd control. His Spitting Cobra can deal some damage to enemies as well.

  • She is best with point control, but her range is limited and easily punished.

  • Fernando is a front-line fighter. He is best at dealing damage in close quarters. He is able to effectively defend himself and teammates from opponent’s attacks

  • She is a support character that can also hold her own. She has good survivability because of her mobility while also being able to rapidly heal her teammates.

  • Terminus is one of the best in dealing tons of damage to his opponents, but lacks the strength for being a front-line character.

  • He is both an offensive and supporting character. He uses a mid-ranged weapon while also being able to heal his allies and himself using his Battle Shout.

  • VII is a stealth champion in Paladins with a unique grappling hook ability. Considered a high-risk high-reward champion, VII is probably not for beginners, but skilled players will definitely enjoy how powerful this champ is when used correctly.

  • Strix
  • Willo
  • Sha Lin
  • Furia
  • Grover
  • Jenos
  • Pip
  • Torvald
  • Drogoz
  • Kinessa

We are now approaching the B-Tier of Paladins characters. These are characters that are still relevant in the game and are still playable and can win games if played with full efficiency. They still have some unique skills and powers that can change the course of the match if played well. B-Tier characters are best for beginners looking for an easy kit to familiarize themselves with.

  • A strong character as long as you have the aim to back it up. One of his best moves is a flashbang that can blind his opponents. He can also use his stealth ability to escape from a sticky situtation.

(Video) Based Isaac Tierlist

  • She is best at using splash damage and is more focused on zoning. She has good AoE and splash damage as well as healing reduction.

Sha Lin

  • He has great damage potential and attacks very quickly. He can easily take out a group if you keep an eye out for him.

  • She can heal very well and also provide crowd control with her Pyre Strike. If your aim isn’t that great then this is a great character to pick to be able to still contribute to your team.

  • He has decent damage and healing, but there are better support characters out there.

  • Good for wiping out teams with his ultimate, but doesn’t really have that much utility outside of his ultimate.

  • Pip’s heal is very disappointing which makes him unable to compete with the other healers out there.

  • He can silence enemies with his skill, Nullify. He’s decent at range but doesn’t have the speed to be able to push on his own.

  • He can deal out tons of damage while being able to escape through his mobility skill.

  • She is a sniper that can deal more damage the longer the range. She lacks in mobility.

Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (7)
  • Evie
  • Lex
  • Talus
  • Zhin
  • Raum
  • Dredge

These are the characters that wouldn’t be a player’s first choice when playing in ranked match-ups. There is still some degree of uniqueness and power with these characters, but they can be easily overpowered by higher-tier characters. They don’t really have a place in the current meta but are picked only when the team composition requires it. However, if you’ve got the skill then you have a slight chance of being able to win using these characters.

  • She is a good flank and decent with AoE. Also has some good mobility for escaping tight situations.

  • Lex is very well-balanced as a damage dealer. He has the ability to focus on one target or to even clear the room with The Law.

  • He is good for hit and run strategies, but you will need to have to be able to read the opponent well to use him to his full potential.

  • Zhin has some good mobility and AoE attacks, but he is tricky to play.

(Video) TV Show Theme Song Tier List

  • He is useful in close-range combat, but outside of that lacks team utility.

  • He is a good crowd control character with good zone control and splash damage.

Paladins Tier List (Updated) - Nerd Lodge (8)
  • Tyra
  • Vivian
  • Ruckus
  • Grohk
  • Buck
  • Barik

If you have any other options, then stay away from playing these characters. You should never rely on these characters because they don’t have any major power and have a multitude of weaknesses. Even skilled players avoid playing these characters.

  • She can punish healers by limiting their abilities.

  • She slows down while firing which makes her a bad choice.

  • He has both offensive and defensive abilities. He has a decent shield, but there are other characters that do his job better.

  • He has been nerfed so much that he is no longer a viable pick.

  • He is a strong flank who can deal a lot of damage close range, but there are other characters that can accomplish this while adding more value to the team.

  • Barik’s abilities are too weak to make a difference in a match.

  • Skye
  • Moji
  • Maeve

Don’t play any of these characters. Even if you were the best player, it is virtually impossible to win a ranked game with these characters. Their kits are effortlessly countered by better characters and they have no place in the current meta no matter what the team composition is. If you pick these characters, then you might even get a bit of toxicity from other players for playing these.

  • She can pick off a single goal. Overall, she lacks the capacity to do so consistently.

  • Moji deals burst damage but has really low damage output.

  • Maeve used to be a great pick, but recent patches have made her obsolete.

And that’s it for the Paladins Tier List. Hope this list helps you select a good paladins character that can help you win your games!
